CFL Quarterback Damon Allen, who retired from football as a Toronto Argonaut was also a favorite with B.C. Lions’ fans.
Allen held the inaugural Damon Allen High School Quarterbacking Challenge recently at York University. More than 100 CFL hopefuls from across the province were on hand to learn what it takes to be a quarterback. Allen says, “There is a desire to see a Canadian quarterback in the CFL. We need to give these young kids an opportunity to play in the CFL.”
Although Allen is pro football’s all-time leading passer, he was passed over last year for induction into the Canadian Football Hall of Fame. It was his first year of eligibility and most would agree it’s only a matter of time before he receives the recognition. During his career Allen won four Grey Cups and was named MVP in three of them.
