By Robert Waldman : It’s great to meet an up and coming performer. Youlanda Davis perfectly fits that bill. Through a diversity of different parts it’s not hard to see why this woman can take on any challenge.
Characters with an age range between 49 and 99 may well have met their match in Ms. Davis. Or so her many producers have thought. Well spoken and articulate you can say no part is too tough on this girl. Among the types of people she has played through the years are a street walker and an attorney – talk about playing both sides of the street! Blue collar workers can relate to her portraying a bar tender on screen while students may have seen similarities with her work as an instructor on the appropriately titled Bad Teacher, the current hit with Cameron Diaz that is sizzling up the screen. No part is too small for her either, as Youlanda has landed work in show business as a bar tender and cashier too.
On the small screen fans will recognize this actress for her stints on CSI: Crime Scene Investigation or on the every popular series Ugly Betty. Keen observers would have noted Youlanda opposite Jamie Foxx in the well reviewed The Soloist which also featured Robert Downey Jr. in a dramatic turn.
And larger girls may be able to relate to her 165 pounds five foot three frame yet she carries her weight well on camera and is destined to become a bigger star as the years progress. Not bad for a brown eyed balding woman who’s not afraid to face challenges – big or small.
