Tessa Virtue and Scott Moir, Canadian figure-skating gold medallists, waltzed into Robson Square to talk about their Olympic triumph.The pair, who have been skating since they were in elementary school, are the youngest ice dance team to win Olympic gold.
The pair beat American skaters Davis and White, who joined them on the podium to take silver. The four skaters are close friends, share the same coaches and train out of the same rink in Michigan. Russians Oksana Domnina and Maxim Shabalin won the bronze.
Virtue talked about how her room mate, Joannie Rochette, will cope in tonight’s skating competition. Rochette is grieving over the death of her mother who died on Sunday.
The golden couple also spoke to media about their winning partnership and performance in the final as well as their feelings about the Canadian fans.
The Olympians were congratulated by BC Premier Gordon Campbell and Vancouver Mayor Gregor Robertson for their gold victory.
