For two unforgettable days, the vibrant city of Toronto became the meeting point of global ideas, innovation, and human potential as the ACSESS / World Employment Conference 2026 brought together the world’s leading voices in employment, workforce development, and economic transformation.
Hosted at the prestigious Sheraton Centre Toronto Hotel, the conference welcomed delegations from more than 32 countries spanning five continents a powerful demonstration that the future of work is not being shaped by one nation alone, but through global collaboration, shared responsibility, and visionary leadership.
From the opening moments, the atmosphere was electric. Business executives, policymakers, innovators, HR leaders, recruiters, labour experts, and entrepreneurs gathered with one united mission: to prepare the world for a rapidly changing workforce driven by technology, talent mobility, and human resilience.
At the center of the conference was a bold and timely message the future of work must remain people-first. While artificial intelligence and digital transformation continue to redefine industries, human talent, inclusion, ethics, and opportunity must remain the foundation of progress.
In his inspiring opening address, David Piccini welcomed international delegates to Canada and emphasized the urgent need to invest in economic opportunity, youth empowerment, skills training, and workforce resilience during uncertain global times. His remarks reflected a growing international understanding that nations willing to invest in people today will lead the economies of tomorrow.
Throughout the conference, powerful conversations explored some of the most pressing issues shaping the global labour market: artificial intelligence, ethical recruitment, staffing innovation, immigration pathways, labour mobility, compliance, workforce inclusion, and international partnerships. Experts from the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development and the International Labour Organization delivered strategic insights into the global economic outlook and the changing realities of employment worldwide.
One of the strongest messages emerging from the conference was the growing recognition of Africa as a major force in the future global workforce. African talent, innovation, and entrepreneurship captured significant attention from international leaders seeking sustainable labour solutions and emerging markets.
The Afro News proudly engaged with distinguished delegations from Ghana, Nigeria, Morocco, and South Africa with South Africa earning recognition as one of the conference award winners. Their strong presence reflected Africa’s rising influence and the continent’s growing role as a powerhouse of global talent and opportunity.
Beyond the conference halls, delegates strengthened international connections during the unforgettable WEConnect Boat Cruise & Dinner, where global leaders experienced the breathtaking beauty of Toronto’s waterfront while building partnerships that could shape the future of employment across borders.
The closing ceremony carried both celebration and optimism for the future. Bettina Schaller officially passed the torch to the Italian delegation, announcing that the 2027 World Employment Conference will be hosted in Rome another historic chapter in this growing international movement.
The elegant Awards Gala Dinner served as a tribute to visionary entrepreneurs, organizations, and changemakers whose dedication continues to transform the employment industry and create opportunities for millions around the world.
Association of Canadian Search, Employment and Staffing Services (ACSESS) once again demonstrated why it remains one of Canada’s most influential organizations in workforce leadership, economic development, and employment innovation.
As the conference concluded, one thing was certain: the future of work is already here and it will be shaped by those bold enough to embrace innovation, invest in people, and build bridges across nations.
There is growing hope that one day Vancouver will also have the honour of hosting this world-class gathering, bringing even more global attention to Canada’s leadership in employment and workforce development.
The Afro News extends sincere gratitude to all sponsors, partners, organizers, and delegates whose passion, commitment, and excellence made the World Employment Conference 2026 an extraordinary success and a truly inspiring global experience.
