By Ariadne Sawyer, MA. Afro News Reporter. The White Lion is a remarkable coming of age story with a surprising twist; the coming of age of a lion! Filmed on location near Johannesburg, South Africa, the film takes the viewers on a visual feast of the scenery and an auditory delight as we are able to not only see the amazing animals but hear them as well. The Shangaan legend of the white lion, thought to be a messengers of the gods follows the birth of an albino lion that is born and grows into a magnificent creature after a series of hectic adventures and encounters with animals and people. His story is narrated by an elder to a group of children sitting around a campfire. Add a lovely musical track and you have a unique film, one well worth seeing.
I viewed the White Lion Film with a lady originally from South Africa. She said it reminded her of the night sounds that she had heard years ago, bringing back distinct memories.
