An Unmissable Cultural Landmark in British Columbia
The Vancouver International Film Festival (VIFF) has once again cemented its place as a must-attend event on the province’s cultural calendar. For film lovers, creators, and storytellers alike, VIFF 2025 its 44th edition was nothing short of extraordinary.
From October 2–12, Vancouver transformed into a cinematic fortress; a vibrant jungle of storytelling, creativity, and connection. Local and international filmmakers, screenwriters, actors, producers, and directors both seasoned veterans and rising talents gathered for 11 days of immersive film celebration.
This year’s Opening Gala featured Nouvelle Vague, a highly anticipated film by Richard Linklater (France, 2025), setting an artistic and thought-provoking tone for the festival. The Closing Gala, Koln 75, was an unforgettable experience, complete with a live performance by renowned musician Chris Gestrin, leaving audiences both moved and inspired.
VIFF 2025 showcased an expansive lineup of films from around the world, reflecting the evolving language of cinema across cultures and genres. From powerful narratives to boundary-pushing documentaries, the festival offered something for every type of film enthusiast.
