By michelle-lee : The Black Business and Professional Association (BBPA) presents the Inaugural National Black Business and Professional Convention (NBBPC). The convention, which is the first of its in Canada, debuts in Toronto on November 4-5, 2010 at the Sheraton Centre Toronto Hotel, 123 Queen St. West.

The goal of the NBBPC is to promote diversity, encourage economic empowerment, and build networks across different businesses/business sectors.

Ms. Pauline Christian, BBPA President said “To gain the competitive and leadership edge as well as share the economic pie and power source, the Black business community will need to be constantly growing and make concerted efforts to develop and drive opportunities to keep its constituency current, relevant, viable and sustainable. This business and professional conference will bring together some of the greatest minds in business so that we can share and learn from each other, and with that become even better and more competitive as we enable our people for economic prosperity.”

The convention will include informative and empowering workshops, presentations, and round table discussions. Bruce George, the co-founder of Russell Simmons Def Poetry Jam on HBO, will give the keynote address. Other speakers include: Julian Falconer, Dr. Alex MacGregor, Marci Ien, Delores Lawrence, Cynthia Reyes, Dr. David Burt, Valerie Sorbie, Denham Jolly and the Honourable Jean Augustine.

Sterling Dentistry, Bank of Montreal, Scotiabank, CIBC, TD, RBC, Toronto District School Board, Deloitte & Touche and John Tory are sponsors of the conference.
