Sandra Scott – software analyst, President of the Jamaican/Canadian Cultural Association of British Columbia, wife, mother and life long learner has always been motivated by her need to learn more. Her thirst for knowledge and independence has led her from achieving a BA from York University in Toronto to a Diploma from BCIT in Information Systems Technology.
In Vancouver she gravitated to healthcare administration and the merging of her skills into work with a software company that develops software for healthcare organizations. From the vantage point of stability in a 10 year career in one position, Scott was able to turn her energies to deal with other opportunities life has brought her.Much of what she does is bound to her strong faith in God, “It assures that I have strength to accomplish anything I put my mind to,” says Scott. Heading up the Jamaican/Canadian Association (JCCABC), along with board members Anthony Cross, Gloria Bailey, Beverly Drayton and Patrick Blake, she hopes her community will also have faith in their collective identity and make an effort to participate.
“If we join hands together we can increase the relevance of our association and take it to the next level,” says Scott. Her aspirations for the non profit organization encompass numerous programs and people interested in showcasing the Jamaican heritage.
