It’s that time of year when we reflect on life and this takes me to a much earlier time in the days of my youth in Africa. As a young boy in my village in Togo, West Africa we picked truffles in the forest; most time this was our way of life, hunting and feeding oneself from nature, eating the best organic fruits the natural world forest produced.
The scene, a big river with a strong current of water always had the best fruit. The fruit, when ripe fall into the water and floats down the river bank until it gets stuck somewhere around the river bank or you manage to climb a tree to pluck the fruits to fall into the water as the only way is to chasse the floating fruit until you get it this was a very dangerous exercise, but with our determination we always managed to come out successful and enjoy ?
Why is this relevant at this moment? During the past 19 years I have been on a journey, one of being at refugee status, then a landed immigrant and finally a Canadian citizen. Building a new life from zero in a new land chasing that wonderful fruit over the river some times alone to figure out it’s magic takes exceptional courage. This is why we celebrate every moment because all this hard and dangerous work leads you to the success of your life and the fulfilment of your dreams.
During conversations this past year, we asked many questions over and over on how do we define progress made over the years and how do you find joy of fulfillment?
Naturally we as humans grow through progress of challenges that we face or endure. It is easy to settle for joy or wealth but it’s not sometimes a fun road in life. Anyone who arrives with great result most people will tell you they suffered the pain of the journey this is common ground for all even the most successful individual.
Be grateful for the life you made for yourself, learning and understanding is key and patience is a virtue.
Remember as long as the darkness is the sun will always rise. Focus on a purpose that drives you to a meaningful and desired path. Whatever results over the years is just part of the life cycle. Lesson is to keep going and strategize on your goals and remember; you are the judge but don’t look down upon yourself but keep your head high and focused.
It has been another wonderful year. There is no question it is full of appreciation and blessings. We can never make it without our family, friends, associates and community, may peace continue to warm your hearts and minds.
We wish you blessings for the holiday season – Joyeux Noel , Merry Christmas and a Joyful New Year
