Friday, November 5 marked the first workshop hosted by SAGE Foundation in collaboration with Repere Francophone Association. The topic of the workshop was the Element of Successful Communication.
Our very own writer, Helena Kaufman, a Communications Specialist prepared and delivered an informed workshop based on the fundamentals of communication. Kaufman illustrated her summary of this word by assigning the acronym: ULTRA = Understand, Listen, Talk, Retain, and Act. This encompasses all that communication truly is.
Although the mother tongue of the participants were French they were receptive to this workshop being delivered in English as Helena also explained that the home language in Vancouver is English and if we extend it to the international level then we all have to agree that English is still the predominant choice. In order for us to have or achieve great communication skills a prerequisite is that we need to converse in a common language.
However, it really does not matter what language we speak, ultimately if we don’t follow the formula of what communication is we will never be successful at it whether we speak English, French or Gibberish!
SAGE Foundation and Repere Francophone will host quarterly workshops. Please visit our website www.sagefoundation.net for more details of our future events.
