Key Highlights from the Summit:
1. The Rise of AI in Construction
Artificial Intelligence is no longer just a concept for the future it’s rapidly becoming a cornerstone of modern construction. From design and project management to on-site safety and efficiency, AI technologies are streamlining operations and driving innovation across all elements of the industry.
2. Economic Outlook: Challenges & Opportunities
Amid global uncertainty, the economic panel offered a sobering yet optimistic view of the current market. Industry leaders emphasized the importance of adaptability and resilience in navigating inflation, labour shortages, and supply chain disruptions while also identifying strategic opportunities for growth and investment.
3. Apprenticeship, Safety & Security: The Lifeblood of the Industry
The importance of safety, training, and apprenticeship programs was reiterated as essential pillars for sustaining and growing the construction workforce. With a focus on creating pathways for the next generation, these programs ensure continuity, safety, and long-term industry progress.
4. Mental Health in Construction: A Wake-Up Call
One of the most powerful sessions came from keynote speakers Kevin Bieksa (former Vancouver Canucks defenceman) and Michael Landsberg (former TSN “Off the Record” host). These two prominent Canadians shared deeply personal and moving stories, shining a light on the often-ignored mental health crisis within the construction industry.
Michael Landsberg left the audience with a message that resonated deeply:
“Mental health -talk saves lives.”
A poignant reminder that open conversations can be life-changing, especially in high-stress industries like construction.
