Wanda Jemly born in Cameroon, a bilingual children’s storyteller, will delight you and your family with her storytelling, music, and creative art. She is famous for writing and reading stories for children, stories that come to life as listeners become part of her stories with carefully orchestrated rhythms, chants and movements telling her stories to the young and the not-so-young.

Curated by Barbara Chirinos in partnership with VIFF Vancity Theatre’s Tom Charity, our annual Black History Month film series is a significant contribution to Vancouver’s cultural diversity.
This year’s program includes a free all-ages screening of the animated classic KIRIKOU AND THE SORCERESS (Sat Feb 2 at noon); the ground-breaking queer love story RAFIKI, a film which had a constitutional impact in its native Kenya (Feb 4), the acclaimed Oscar short-listed documentary HALE COUNTY THIS MORNING, THIS EVENING (Feb 4); an African superhero movie you need to see, SUPA MODO (Feb 11); concert doc JIMI HENDRIX – ELECTRIC CHURCH (Feb 11); a rousing slam poetry doc – followed by a poetry slam in our atrium! – DON’T BE NICE (Feb 12); a film about the first African American woman to run for President of the United States, CHISHOLM ‘72, UNBOUND AND UNBOSSED (Feb 25); Spike Lee’s BLACKKKLANSMAN (Feb 25); and Afro-futurist classic SANKOFA (Feb 26).

Dine Out Vancouver’s popular food-truck festival returns to Robson Square (Vancouver Art Gallery) from January 21 – 27 for its eighth delicious year.
Returning for its eighth annual edition, Street Food City is taking over Robson Square (previously known as Vancouver Art Gallery’s North Plaza) from Monday, January 21st to Sunday, January 27th.
More than 20 food trucks and carts will rotate throughout the week — meaning you’ll want to check back daily.
