The Afro News : Per your album’s name, Touch Down – Everything for you’ ?
Not quite everything! 5 albums ‘touched down’ this year.
All in a different genre: EDM, Caribbean/Pop, Rock, Gospel, and Classical.
1. “The Trilogy – Pt. II – Music For Ballet” is a soothing album of solo classical piano music.
2. “Take All Of Me” is a Christian Contemporary album of ambient music with a touch of the celtic sounds. This album is a nostalgic nod to the style of 1990s Christian music. Featuring mainly the piano and voice, this album is designed to renew your spirit.
3. “Touch Down” is a Caribbean Dance party. Drawing from the sounds of soca to calypso, this album is pure fun. Sensual yet non explicit, this album is perfect for lime time!
4. “We Need To Love” is a celebration of electronic dance music spreading across the soundscape of the early 90s until now. If you need to stay awake – this is the album for you.
5. “Toxic Love” is a real hard look at the toxic relationships we have with ourselves, our friends, our workplace, our church, and our family. This album is not for the faint of heart… symphonic rock hits the blues hard. This is arguably one of my most transparent albums. If you’ve had a bad day, year, or a bad hand this in life, ‘Toxic Love’ will resonate with your soul. Sometimes you need music that matches your mood. It’s OK not to be OK.
In conclusion, I’m not afraid of the dark, but I know where to go to find the light.
The Afro News : What prompted you to start music?
Well Honore, I’ve been hearing finished songs and music in my head since I was 4 years old. And what I hear – I happen to remember because it moves me. That is the primary motivator behind the career path in music. But there is a twist… I prayed for the gift of music when I was 6. Specifically for music that would be cool but still gave glory to God. Little did I know that my Mom had prayed for the gift of music before I was conceived. The music seems to be endless – no bottom or shore – and no limits. There is no genre that I have not heard and I have dedicated my life to sharing it with everyone who is willing to receive it.
The Afro News : Who or What gave you strength in your everyday life?
You said it right… who. I check in with God every morning and most evenings. If I don’t start the day right, things can go sideways (to say the least). I remember who I’m doing this for… the Lord, the listeners, my future fans, always keeps me going. I realize with as many gifts I have people don’t always understand the responsibility that I face – and it’s time consuming. Well wishers sometimes give me ideas of what I could, should or might do but unintentionally add to my already heavy work load. 60-80 hour week to be exact. I’m hoping to hire an assistant or attract more industry personnel that can actually help and resonate with my brand. Until then, it’s been me and my manager, God. And we’ve done some pretty cool things together! 🙂
The Afro News : What inspires you most about the genre of music?
Music can cure. Music heals. Music is powerful yet not generally overwhelming. What music can do for others inspires me – every time.
The Afro News : Do you have any regrets about your chosen career?
I don’t have any regrets about my career. What I do regret is how people respond to musicians.
The Afro News : How do you grow from here?
My aim is to bring more awareness to my art and attract like minded visionaries – people who think outside the box – to my music who support what I’m doing.
The Afro News : What advice do you have for our youth?
1. Work hard but work smart. Only listen to what’s in your heart…especially if it’s a constant music pulse. You’ll know it when you hear it. Or feel it.
2. Work with people you trust and believe in you. No matter how great someone is, if they don’t resonate with your work, do not work with them. Their ability to make you feel small with be felt on the track and you don’t want that.
3. Don’t pursue music as a career if you only care about the money and fame.
4. Nothing is guaranteed and the world doesn’t owe you anything because of your gift. Your music will not be enough – you’ll have to promote, market, shop it around for film, etc. if you want to give it a chance to fly.
5. Don’t be in a hurry.
6. Don’t let anyone pressure you to do anything you don’t want to do.
7. Don’t ever compare your gift with anyone else. You have yours for a reason.
8. Don’t minimize someone else’s gift. The “they deserve it because they worked so hard”. Be happy for others so when it’s your turn to shine others can be happy for you.
9. Don’t tell anyone what you’re going to do. Just get it done.
10. If you are a believer, pray. Pray without ceasing for your soul and for the world. Love conquers all!

Some of my achievements are on my wall or trophies – but the greatest achievement is always knowing that my music has touched someone’s life and made a difference.

I’d like to be remembered as an innovator. A survivor. A visionary – someone who didn’t lose sight of the bigger picture…
