Toronto Raptors Win Game One
After a 7-1 record in the NBA Restart games, the Toronto Raptors began their run for their repeat Championship with a win over the Brooklyn Nets. They ended the first quarter with a 17 point lead and by the half it had increased to 22. Brooklyn came back strong and closed the gap to 9 before the Raps tightened up to secure a 134-110 win.
Fred VanVleet led all scorers with 30 points. Six other players were in double figures – Serge Ibaka (22), Pascal Siakam (18), Kyle Lawry (16), Marc Gasol (13),OG Anunoby (12), Terence Davis (11). Timothe Luwanu Cabarrot (26) and Joe Harris(19) were the big guns for the Nets.
Brooklyn is a 3-point shooting threat and the Raps have to pick up their defence in this area. In this game they were 13 of 42, missing many wide open shots that usually go in. Toronto hit 22 of 44 led by VanVleet’s 8. It was a good start to a series that really should end in a Toronto 4-0 sweep.
The next game is Wednesday 1:30pm EST.
UPDATE:
8th place Orlando shocks Milwaukee: Despite 31 points from Giannis Antetokounmpo, the Bucks had no answer for the Magic who won 122-110 in their game one. Nikola Vucevic led the way with 35. Terence Ross (18), Gary Clark and Markelle Fuitz (15 each) and DJ Augustine and James Ennis (11 each) got the job done. Milwaukee finished #1 in the league and were hoping for a sweep in this round.
