Lost in Africa

Reel 2 Real International Film Festival for Youth: April 13 – 20, at the Vancity Theatre and Roundhouse Community Centre

Lost in Africa, screening Sunday, April 15, 3:00 pm at the Vancity Theatre and Tuesday April 17 10 : am at the Pacific Cinematheque. Directed by Vibeke Muasya, a Denmark production, in English and Danish with English subtitles.

I really enjoyed previewing this well done and suspenseful film about a an eleven-year-old boy named Simon who goes on holiday with his Danish mother to Kenya, his birth country. He gets lost from his hotel and chases after his prize soccer ball. Getting caught up in one of the largest slums in the country, he is befriended, kidnapped and rescued. It is a film full of surprise twists and turns. Lost in Africa is well worth seeing. By Ariadne Sawyer, reporter for TAN-The Afro News.

Reel 2 Real will also feature exceptional short films by young filmmakers from around the world, the Young Filmmakers Showcase will be selected from online submissions to the website, www.r2rfestival.org.
