Long Time Running is a doc by Elevation Pictures, who have brought so many great films and TV programs to the screen.

I was honoured to be part of the media who previewed this inspirational documentary Long Time Running. It showed the  courage, belief in self and loyalty on the part of Gord Downie, the Tragically Hip band and the Canadian fans.

Lead singer Gord made the decision to participate in the latest cross country tour with his band despite the challenge of incurable brain cancer and all the effects of the treatment. It showed immense courage to carry through with the tour. His band of 30 years showed loyalty, love and acceptance of his wishes. The fans also expressed their enthusiasm and love in so many ways, turning out in large numbers during the tour.

I believe that this moving documentary will bring hope to all those who carry on despite challenges . It is one of the most moving documentary I have ever seen and I highly recommend it. It sends a messages of the best of human behavior that needs to be shared with  the world.

Gord Downie is also a strong supporter of Canada’s First Nations.  To find out more: http://secretpath.ca

“Tragically Hip documentary LONG TIME RUNNING is directed by Jennifer Baichwal and Nick de Pencier, and produced by Banger Films in association with Bell Media and Shed Creative (a division of Universal Music Canada). It will be making its World Premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival and will be released theatrically in cinemas across Canada beginning Sept. 14th.

Long Time Running chronicles the emotional and epic iconic Canadian band’s now-legendary 2016 tour that captured the heart of the nation. Viewers will be given a unique and exclusive perspective into The Tragically Hip’s world through intimate moments, behind-the-scenes and on-stage footage, personal interviews with the band and close friends, as well as reactions from their devoted fans from across the country. Following lead singer Gord Downie’s announcement that he was battling incurable brain cancer, iconic Canadian band The Tragically Hip went on a now-legendary 2016 tour that captured the heart of Canadians.

The film goes backstage to give a unique and exclusive perspective into The Tragically Hip’s world, as they admit that they had doubts Gord would be in good enough health to be able to perform so many concerts. We get glimpses behind-the-scenes and on-stage footage, personal interviews with the band and close friends, as well as discussions with and reactions from their die-hard fans across the country.”
