Laurence Mason Unknown Quantity!
By Robert Waldman : The Afro News Vancouver : Don’t let the title to this piece fool you. Now and then actors gain prominence without much being known about them. Call these go-getters mystery men and mystery women. Into this category falls one Laurence Mason.
Hard it is indeed to dig up personal information on such private people who may or may not want their personal lives dwelled into. Ah, but at a cost and belonging to various organizations may open doors into one’s previous live. In the case of many of these actors it’s their roles that do the talking. Screen presence is what Laurence Mason is all about. Colour him impressive as a heroic back-up to leading men and women whenever he signs onto a project. Oh, and has he amassed a bevy of credentials to be sure.
Impressive in the first degree is Laurence’s work as the hot shot chauffeur to an equally high flying attorney in the crowd-pleasing The Lincoln Lawyer where he shares screen time with hunky Matthew McConaughey. No less than 35 previous acting gigs have come Laurence’s way including stints on such trend-setting projects as True Romance, with 1993 being a breakout year for this acting dynamo. Also on his roster of hits include Hackers with a then unknown Angelina Jolie to Ali, Public Enemies with Johnny Depp, The Crow, Behind Enemy Lines and Steven Spielberg’s AI: Artificial Intelligence. Oh, and let’s not forget a slew of television appearances on such world wide success stories as Profiler, JAG, Law & Order, CSI: Miami, etc.
