You will remember that in the August edition, we wrote about Laura-Lynn’s return to Uganda to build a home for a needy single mother. Her heart was so captivated by that trip, that she is returning in November, with a bigger vision. Her plan is to build a “village” (with about 20 homes) which will benefit some poor and destitute families.
She will also be doing a home for a single mother in Meru, Kenya, in partnership with Esther Nkatha Gatuma. Esther is another dynamic African woman who now lives in Arkansas, US. She is a well-known Kenyan gospel singer (with 2 CD’s) and founder of Woman of Paradise. She has recently taken the forefront in her battle against FGM (female genital mutilation) in her home area of Meru, Kenya, where FGM is rampant, and is fighting to eradicate FGM in East Africa in the next decade. Esther has been featured in the Democrat Congress (newspaper) and Oprah’s producers have been in discussions with her lately on that topic. Esther will be coming to attend Laura-Lynn’s fundraiser.
