By Robert Waldman : Film aficionados know that some of the best actors hail from across the pond in Great Britain. Set to join this illustrious club is Adrian Holmes Randolph. Standing tall now in the hit science fiction juggernaut we call Elisium comes this strapping 6 foot tall hunk. Let’s just say he makes quite the impression.
Brawn and brain go hand in hand for Adrian. Known to friends as A-Train this new age star now considers Vancouver and Los Angeles home. Convenient for Vancouver-raised filmmaker’s Neill Blomkamp’s (District 9) new futuristic thriller our Mr. Holmes is sure to set the world on fire. Born with a Barbados heritage in the British city of Wrexham, North Wales our subject spent most of his youth in Vancouver.
On the Pacific Coast our man showed a fondness for entertaining right from childhood, appearing in a number of plays before heading onto higher education. We all know how hard it is to make it in show business so despite taking courses in theatre Holmes began studying for nursing. Even that decision was short-lived as acting ran deep in his soul. Lucky for us he stuck to his guns and is now smoking out all comers as a well on his way leading man.
Directors love versatility in their talent. Thanks to a film debut in Valentine it’s been clear sailing for this British import. With a proven track record in a variety of television series mostly shot in British Columbia now feature films beckon. On the small screen fans recall with fondness this actor’s stint on such programs as The Outer Limits, The L Word, Battlestar Galactica, The Twilight Zone, M.A.N.T.I.S., Da Vinci’s Inquest, Neon Rider, Smallville and Arrow – to name just a few.
Big screen adventures include key roles in Two for The Money, Are We There Yet?, Red Riding Hood, Battle in Seattle, Damage, Red Riding Hood and Cabin in the Woods. Ability to play other people is a hallmark of true talent and over the years Mr. Holmes has resonated being a nurse, policeman, detective, basketball player, doctor, banker, pilot, bouncer and even Stevie Wonder. Talk about diversity!
Considerate, compassionated, caring and creative are adjectives that well describe Adrian Holmes, an actor clearly on the move.
