The Kenya Education Endowment Fund is hosting its annual Virtual Vancouver Sun Run. “By getting involved you can help students in Kenya, E. Africa access a high school education – which is not free there”, said KEEF volunteer Kaitlyn Leask, a student at the University of Victoria. KEEF (www.kenyaeducation.org ) seeks walkers, joggers, wheelchair users and runners to register for the 10 km 2023 Virtual Vancouver Sun Run. KEEF will publicize our Run volunteers’ efforts in their community to raise funds for scholarships for bright, very financially limited youth in Kenya. We need your help to get out the word.
How it works: you can sign up as an individual or as a member of a team of eight or more people via the Vancouver Sun Run website Between April 14/15/16 you will have the flexibility to complete the 10km of your chosen route anywhere in Canada or the USA. Since you have three days, you may break up the distance however you want, making it a more accessible event. The Virtual Vancouver Sun Run’s early registration is $30, but only until January 31st. Some subsidies are available to aid registration and participation for anyone interested but unable to afford the total early registration fee. (To apply, in confidence, for a subsidy, contact shelaghag@shaw.ca). “Adults and youth can register by January 31st and participate anywhere in Canada or the USA next April”, Leask said. (It is also possible to run in person in Vancouver April 16th but that is an additional $24.)
“Not an outdoor enthusiast? You can help KEEF by “spreading the word” about our need for Virtual Vancouver Sun Run participants. For additional details of the event, setting up a local team for KEEF, or more about KEEF’s work in Kenya, contact Shelagh at shelaghag@shaw.ca or 1-604-415-9397. Thank you for considering helping KEEF help students in Kenya!
