Helping the people of Gambia is the mission of the GambiaHELP 10th Anniversary Celebration and Auction, scheduled for Saturday, November 7th, 2009, 6:00 pm—10:00 pm at the Women’s University Club, 1105 6th Ave Seattle, WA 98101. The event is designed to raise funds for the African country of Gambia. Attendees can enjoy a Gambian Dinner and a performance from Sankofa, a mellifluous, eclectic African American women’s vocal group. Funds raised will be committed to sustainable projects, women’s group support, libraries, school supplies health & clinic Supplies, and bed nets for Malaria prevention. GambiaHELP is a U.S. 501(c)(3) non-profit organization made up of dedicated individuals in Seattle. GambiaHELP provides books, computers, educational opportunities, seed money, and human resources to Gambian communities in need. The goal is not simply to provide a gift, but to assist Gambians in their efforts to build a sustainable economy and environment. In short, the organization “strives to help Gambians help themselves.”
