By Robert Waldman Practice makes perfect in any profession. Acting is no exception to this age-old adage. Today, top actors and producers have often gotten their start years ago – as child performers. To this list must be added current heartthrob DeVaughn Nixon.
Now on screen in the typical teen Disney flick Prom Mr. Nixon came to prominence quite a while back. Born and bred in Los Angeles a young Nixon caught filmgoers eyes in the heart felt role as none other than Whitney Huston’s young son Fletcher in the Kevin Costner hit The Bodyguard. Flash forward oh those many years to see how a young boy has turned into a grown adult – and a first class actor.
Among our man DeVaughn’s big screen outings has been science fiction and action crowd pleaser Terminator 2: Judgment Day opposite former California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger. Best known for a spate of television work including recurring roles and one-offs on such highly acclaimed series as Jag, The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air with Will Smith, Lincoln Heights and The Unit DeVaughn seems ready and able to latch onto any character and run with it. Notable work has seen him ably portray law enforcement types and various other disciplines.
Born to a happy family, you could say this man has good genes. For example, former NBA star is his dad while step mom Debbie Allen needs no introduction as a high flying dancer. Athletic prowess, good looks and a knack to take on any project make DeVaughn Nixon a cool operator who’s about to get hotter with every new role and challenge he undertakes. Successfully too, I might add.
