Comox Valley Event Supports Education in Kenya

Alinda Ware, retired teacher, volunteer, Rotarian, and co-founder of KEEF – Kenya Education Endowment Fund – a registered, BC-based charity supporting the education of bright, financially needy  students in Kenya, E. Africa – will be celebrated  September 24th  Alinda’s Ride and Walk, starts 10AM at the Bates Rd. Trial Head entrance to Seal Bay Park, Courtenay  Registration is by donation to KEEF at www.kenyaeducation.org  or at the park September 24th.  Donations may also be e-transferred to keefcan2010@gmail.com or mailed to KEEF, c/o 1230 Saturna Drive, Parksville, V9P 2X5.  All donations, from participants and others, are eligible for tax-deductible receipts.  Please specify on your donation that it is for Alinda’s Ride/Walk. Alinda spends half of each year in Kakamega, Kenya, helping KEEF’s programs.

The 40 km flagged bike route will travel past Alinda’s childhood home, school, etc. in the Comox Valley. An additional 35km round trip side ride up Mount Washington will appeal to some cyclists. Non-cyclists can enjoy walking a distance of their choice on the wooded trails of Seal Bay Park. “You will have a great day and be furthering a great cause” says Dr. Brenda Trenholme, cycling adventurer and KEEF supporter (Cairo to Cape Town; China to Turkey; etc.), who initiated this event.  Brenda says “Join the fun for some fresh air and to help change the life of a student and their community! We welcome your donation whether your ride, walk, or not.”
