Peace and Good in Christ!

For many folks this is a difficult season to give thanks. After acrimonious elections, politics are still polarized and angry. There are ongoing grave troubles in the Church. Indeed, our culture seems to be unraveling on so many levels.

Yet, this is precisely the time to give thanks to God! There are still wonderful things happening all around us if we were only open the eyes of our hearts with thanksgiving in order to see them. They are always there, despite the problems of our world. But we don’t always have the eyes of faith to see them.

Scripture tells us that we enter into God‘s presence was songs of thanksgiving and praise (Psalm 100), and we are to thank God “always in for everything” through Jesus Christ.(Eph. 5:20)

Having a grateful heart changes how we look at everything in our life. Troubles might still come and go. But, instead of the proverbial glass being a half empty, it now becomes half full. Setbacks become challenges. Opposition becomes opportunity. This isn’t necessarily because anything changes externally, but because our attitude has changed within.

Monastic life is the beating contemplative heart of the Church. Despite the comings and goings of various problems and challenges in the world and in the Church, we continue in the life of praise and thanksgiving to God. We believe that this has a positive impact, not only on ourselves, but on the entire world in Christ.

We continue to support you from Little Portion Hermitage and Monastery. We humbly ask for your support as well.

In Jesus,
