Guyana Association Revellers

By Len Chan : Carifest, Calgary’s Caribbean Festival took place Saturday June 8th. The day began with a Carnival Parade starting from Eau Claire Market and winding down 8th Ave. Participants included groups from the Haitian Association. St. Lucia, Trinidad & Tobago, Guyana, Grenada, Sykotik, Roots United and Calgary Soca.

The sunny weather added to the enjoyment at Shaw Millennium Park for the Sunshine Festival. The packed crowd was entertained by Steel Pan groups, various other bands, The Diversity Dancers and from St. Vincent, special guest singer Skinny Fabulous. The festival also included a children’s activity area and many food vendors.
