Life is never made to last forever, but one thing is certain your legacy on this rental planet will.
A giant among giants, a child of the Sun, has crossed to the other side.
The Honorable Jesse Jackson was destiny shaped for leadership  a champion of peace, a relentless global citizen, proudly Black and beautifully bold.
He did not simply inspire a generation; he moved the conscience of youth across the world.
I remember our college years in the late 1980s in Africa. We were electrified by his courage and fierce determination to run for the highest office in the United States. His presidential campaigns in 1984 and 1988 were more than political movements they were declarations of hope. He stood as a vibrant, farouche Democratic voice for change, refusing to be silenced no matter the roadblocks placed before our communities.
No one can truly measure the pain he endured or the suffering he witnessed on this earth. Yet he carried it with dignity, turning struggle into strength and injustice into a call for unity.
May you journey peacefully to your Creator and find everlasting rest. And as you join the elders, remind them that there is still work to be done that the dream of justice, equality, and human dignity must continue.
We are forever grateful for your sacrifice and service to humanity. Your life was not only lived it was poured out in purpose.
It was an honor for The Afro News to meet you in Vancouver, Canada, in 2010 at a social conference. For a young boy from Africa who had once watched you on television with admiration captivated by your proud and powerful voice  that moment was unforgettable.
You have made everlasting change.
Rest in eternal power.
