Hall of Farmer Steve Nash has been hired by the Brooklyn Nets as their new Head coach. Jacque Vaughn who had been their interim Coach since March 7th, replacing Kenny Atkinson, will return to his former position as  Assistant Coach. The Nets reached the playoffs without star Kevin Durant (entire season) and Kyrie Irving who played only 20 games due to injury. Both players came to the Nets after last season and are expected to be ready to play when the new season starts.

NBA Semifinals September 2/2020

MIAMI 116 – MILWAUKEE 114

With seven seconds left in the game Miami fouled Kris Middleton on a 3-point shot. He made all three and the game was tied at 114. With 4.7 seconds left Giannis Antetokounmpo fouled Jimmy Butler near the three point line. He made both free throws and won the game for Miami who go ahead 2-0. Even though it was close, Miami controlled the game especially in the 4th quarter. Giannis finished with 29, Middleton had 23 and Robin Lopez and Eric Bledsoe contributed 16 each. Miami’s starters were all in double figures led by Goran Dragic with 23 including 4 of 8 triples. Bam Adebayo fouled out and Andre Iguodala left the game in the 4th quarter with a possible sprained ankle. Game 3 is Friday at 6:30pm EST.

HOUSTON 104 – OKLAHOMA 102

With a win or go home game 7, Houston and OKC took this game right to 1.1 seconds remaining before Houston finally won. They advance to the semifinals against the Lakers. The game could have gone either way – a tough one to lose – a relief to win. James Harden was held to 17 points on 4 of 15 shooting, garnering most of his points at the free throw line. Eric Gordon and Robert Covington had 21 each and Russell Westbrook added 20. OKC was led by Luguentz Dort with 30 who will probably have nightmares over OKC’s last play of the game. He had the ball and was going to try a triple, the ball went up in the air and with time running out he caught the ball and tried to bounce it off Harden who eluded the ball as it went out of bounds giving the Rockets the last shot and the game. You could feel the disappointment of the OKC players who had come from behind 3-1 only to lose in the end. Game 1 of the semifinals is Friday at 9pm EST.
