
Barbados Association Celebrated there 43rd year of Independence, at the Hilton Metro Town in Burnaby

It was a Red carpet affair as the Barbados Association Celebrated there 43rd year of Independence, at the Hilton Metro Town in Burnaby. The night was a hit. The food, the entertainment, and overall ambiance was incredible!!! Doctors, Lawyers, Judges, Actors and Presidents from other Caribbean associations in BC, all attended in style. The Mc Mrs. Michelle DeAbreu and her co host Ms Elise Drayton Kept the program on track through the night. The opening address was done by the president Mr. Eric Drayton. Followed by the introduction of his executive board of directors.
Mrs. Marilyn Moseley honorary Consul for Barbados at Vancouver introduces the guest speaker, the honorary James Inniss, consul of Barbados at Toronto. He gave a brief speech about Immigration and also about people who are still eligible for citenzenship back in Barbados. Shortly there after Kenrick Hedley a composer and musician and one his student, 10 years old Cecelia Palmer wowed the crowed with there spectacular rendition of Elazabthin serenade, Human Nature, and Bridge over trouble waters just to name a few.
Mister Fantastic was up next and let me tell you his name said it all, Mr. fantastic was definitely fantastic with his flips and the way he was able to contorts his body was just incredible.
But on a serious note the Dame Nita Barrow community service Awards was given to Monifa Ayinde for her on going support in the community. Its amazing how one person could do so much in such a short time? This award was well deserving to this recipient.
The night finished off with a flurry of door prizes with included a trip for two to Barbados. Daddy Mickey from lover’s Choice Supreme sounds finished it off with some wonderful sounds from the Caribbean. If you missed this event this year, make sure you do not miss it next year.
