Art in its many forms are non as expressive as it is in the art of rhythmical composition, written or spoken, for exciting pleasure by beautiful, imaginative, or elevated thoughts; mostly known as poetry.

As young children we are taught poems of centuries ago as well as modern day lyrics and when we take the time to read it line by line and understand each word of expression we feel the emotion that the poet felt.

Monice Peter is a vibrant rising star in the poetic space of expression. She was born and raised in Calgary, Alberta with her ancestral roots nourished from Commonwealth Dominica. Passionately pursuing her dream, Monice completed her studies at Mount Royal University and graduated from the Theatre Performance Program. In 2015, Monice attended the Stratford Festival’s Birmingham Conservatory, a classical theatre training program. She spent 3 seasons with the Stratford Festival.

Selected credits of her work in theatre includes The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe; The Aeneid; School for Scandal; and Julius Caesar. The Shaw Festival: Sex and Getting Married. Monice also performed with Order of Canada’s Seana McKenna, in Margaret Atwood’s (also A Companion of the Order of Canada) The Penelopiad, directed by Canadian sweetheart Megan Follows.

Monice moved to Vancouver on a whim in 2014 and started working in the TV/Film Industry. In this spotlight her credits include Supernatural (2005) 12 Men of Christmas (2009) and Girlfriends’ Guide to Divorce (2014)

As an expansion to her successful stage and film career Monice also instructs at The Arts Club Theatre Company and combines her expressive voice and art in a unique workshop.

You are invited to hear, see, and learn about the many cultural shades of poetic expression – come join Monice Peter with a mind of curiosity.

‘’Artists out there continue to create if that’s what you want; but you shouldn’t suffer for your art buying into the cliches of negativity” – Monice Peter
